The service it's great. We were treated really well by down-to-earth staff who gave off an "everyone knows your name" appeal. The best part is the food. It's a little surreal how bar food can be this good. We had soup, burger, wings, cornbread, and drinks. EVERYTHING was amazing. Must visit!

Normally, when I'm traveling around Wisconsin, I brace for fact that as a vegetarian I'll be stuck with some pretty dire food options. Brown Bear has, without a doubt, the best bar food I've ever had. Great house made veggie patty with some amazing side options. I went with roasted Brussels sprouts, but the cornbread is also pretty astounding.

Really cool place with surprisingly awesome food and a nice staff. Only complaint is the beer selection. It seems like a place that should have a great selection of local/craft beer, but it falls way short on that front, sadly. Busch on tap? Why?

Love Brown Baer. Every time I visit Elkhart Lake I come here at least a couple times. Good food, good beer selection and friendly bar staff. It's dark and wooden inside with plenty of cool stuff on the walls to stare at. Even though the Brown Baer has been open for something like 7 years, the building is much older so it has a cool rustic feel. Must go!

I've had a number of sandwiches here. All good. The best food here, however? The roasted squash. Holy cow. I keep it at "only" 4 stars mainly because its not a full-fledged restaurant. The food is awesome!

If I could give it 0 stars I would. My friends and I were visiting and someone told us to check this place out - there were 10 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 6) when we walked 4 folks who were sitting at the bar made sure to get to the only table large enough to sit our group before we were all even in the space. The bartender was rude and snobby - so much so that someone who came outside after we left told us that they saw the bartender be snobby to us and that it was nothing we did. The cherry on the cake -the old perverts sitting around the swing seats where the kids gravitated to - asking them how hard they like to bounce. Will not be back here ever.

Plymouth hosted tough Mudder and was looking for good food and good brew. This place was such a pleasant surprise. The food was amazing and the beer selection was perfect. People were so friendly and the bar itself was so warm and welcoming. Need an excuse to get back.

Can you say GOOOOOODDDDD! Came here on a whim after reading the Yelp Reviews. My husband and I were the first customers of the day on a Saturday morning. Place is one big bar! No tables, just a big long bar with eclectic bar stools. My husband ordered the fresh carrots & celery to start. Super fresh @ crunchy seved with ranch on the side. As our main lunch, he ordered the Cat fish sandwich, and I ordered the Porkloin sandwich. OMG!!!! Both were outstanding! Both had a lovely Cajun seasoning. Both sandwiches were served on grilled Ciabatta with a huge serving of lettuce, tomato, onion, and thin pickle slices on the side. My Porkloin was at least a 10 oz portion perfectly cooked and tender. I ordered the cornbread as a side. I am so glad I did! Best cornbread ever served with honey butter all over the top. Over the top cornbread!! Would definitely come back for a great laid back lunch with great beer to boot!

A True Dive! The unassuming Brown Baer is a must for anyone visiting or passing through Elkhart Lake! Found this place when I was up in Plymouth for business, and I'm so glad I did! The place does not look like much at all from the outside, but the inside is a Diver's paradise! On top of that they have an outstanding beer selection with a wide range of local drafts on tap. The food is out of this world good. I NEVER would have guessed that this unassuming wooden shack could pump out such high quality food! The staff and locals were more than happy to buy us a round, tell us about the town and show us what the town favorites were on the menu...The crab cakes at this place are OUT OF BOUNDS! Chunks of crab, shrimp and scallops are found in this in house creation that I could not get enough of! You have to try this place!!!

My favorite hang out! The food is so good! It's not your typical "bar food." They have a changing menu with some items always available. The drinks are big and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly. The decor is fun. Casual place that can get crowded on weekends. Live bands during the summer. Fun, fun place! I highly recommend!

I am a foodie & this place is AMAZING...the cornbread is craveable. I love the daily specials & the menu written on a chalkboard behind the bar. I always can't wait to go there when I'm up from Milwaukee. (bf is a racecar driver/ all around motorcar enthusiast)

My favorite place to dine after a late night drive in from Chicago! And the owners are the nicest people ever! Get the cornbread -- it's top notch! Just be willing to sit at the bar if the two dining spaces in the place are taken.

Every time we go to Road America, this is the first place we stop. Great sandwiches, awesome side dishes, excellent craft beer selection, groovy iPod playlists, great service, good times. I only wish there were more places to sit. I know it's bar and they have live music, but sometimes it's a crap shoot if you go plan to have dinner there and can't sit down. I'm old & creaky so I need a place to park my butt after a long day at the track!

The food is THE BEST. Everything is so fresh and they make it right there in their little kitchen. It's not a sit down restaurant, it's a bar, so don't go expecting anything fancy. If your looking for good food, you can find it here. I crave their veggie burger every time I am away and when I can catch the meatloaf/mac and cheese special it is home cooking like i've never been able to do myself. The bar is also very fun, pool, darts, swings, an empty ant farm, and lots of bear decor. You really just can't go wrong. The bands they book are always really fun and somehow every time I'm out i always seem to end up here.

Great Bar! Awesome atmosphere and GREAT Service! Bar owner was there and brought us pretzels with a little dip and chips and salsa. We were watching the Brewers game and then he came around with Free Brat pizza! Very cool place!

Would totally recommend the Brown Baer. Wandered in here while staying in Elkhart Lake for a weekend. The place had a good tap selection, and it looked like a decent menu, though I didn't try the food. Bartenders were attentive and the place was jamming for a Sunday night. There was live blues music, which was quite decent. Although the place gets a star off for a chap we'll call 'Milwaukee 52'. If there's a drunk reeling around the place, getting in everyone's face (this includes the band), and chasing women off the dance floor, you'd think the bouncer would kindly escort him out.

This place is a delightful neighborhood pub, not a full service restaurant. If you want a pricey multi course meal with snobbery and high prices, this place is not for you. Rather, if you enjoy good music, conversation, and outstanding pub food, this place is exactly what you want. I had a half pound cheeseburger, veggies, and a side of chipotle Mac and Cheese that was to die for. The service was very friendly and prompt. Their beer selection is also excellent. The pub ambience was great, seating comfortable, and patrons interesting. So, if you want to escape the high prices and fake atmosphere found in local eateries, make sure to visit this place. Keep it casual, keep it real, and enjoy!

Not your average eating place... it's a bar for sure, but with some great eats!!! Our server was attentive and hooked us up when we needed something. Broccoli cheese soup is just awesome! My girl had the pulled pork sandwich and she had no complaints and loved it. I had the corn crab and it had a nice little spice to it to give it a kick. Very good place and I will be back!
